Welcome to
White Dutchess Enterprises
Hello!
This is the home page of Heather McMillan. I am a thirty something mom and significant
other and daughter and sister and aunt. My family is extremely important
to me, especially my daughter who continues to amaze me with her
ability to learn new things. She goes to public school, but I also
provide two hours a week of lesson plans for her at home in harder
subject areas.
I think the public school systems do
okay, but my daughter is gifted. And she needs more than what they
are permitted by law to offer her. She needs to be able to think
and figure out things on her own. She needs an environment where
she can challenge and question the answers instead of being told
just to be happy with the answers given in the text book. So I provide
that atmosphere for her. Parents are children's first and most important
teachers, after all.
I run a few businesses from my home office, and I'm having a great time doing it. I work as a virtual assistant, independent consultant for Kat's Coffees and More, a virtual assistant coach, tarot card reader via email or live chat, and blog designer.
Things I like:
Gardening:
I have three flower gardens and one veggie garden.
I have to thank my Dad, Victoria, and Tommy for all their help,
especially with the veggie garden. This is my second year with a veggie garden, and it's a very rewarding hobby.
Collecting
Swedish Stamps:
Thanks to my Dad who gave me a big jump start on the country and
to Ebay where you can find whatever you're looking for, I have a
pretty fine collection of Swedish stamps. As I get them cataloged
on my album pages, I will scan them and post them here so you can
see what I have and what I need. If I have extras, I will list those
as well. Maybe we can trade, buy, or sell if you have or want Swedish
stamps too.
Collecting
Nibs: Yes, the
old fashioned nibs that were using for writing prior to plastic
pens. Remember those? I collect the pointy writing ends called nibs.
I have several that are worth a good bit of money in the condition
they are in. And I have several that would be worth some if I hadn't
used them. LOL Ah well. I just had to write with them!! If you have
nibs, please contact me. I even take junky ones and clean them up.
I will eventually list the ones I have here on this site.
Girl
Scouting: Yes,
my daughter is a Brownie, and I am also an Adult Girl Scout and Troop Leader. Girl
Scouts was such a big and favorable part of my childhood. It's a
great place for girls and women to learn how they can make a difference
in the world and in their own communities. Girl Scouts provides
good role models for young girls and encourages and teaches them
to make educated and thoughtful decisions. Even if you don't have
a daughter in scouts, you can help by buying Girl Scout Cookies,
volunteering your time with a troop, or donating money to the Girl
Scout Council in your area. Each girl pays registration of $10 per
year, but it costs the Girl Scouts of the USA about $50-60 per girl
each year in expenses. So please support them and the great works.
Also, encourage your children who are not scouts to not make fun
of people who are in scouts. There is nothing to be ashamed of in
wanting to be a part of a group that helps people! To learn more
about Girl Scouts or to find a council near you, visit the Girl
Scouts of America.
Pit
Bull Support & Positive Press:
Saying all pit bulls are murdering, blood thirsty dogs is about
as racists and ignorant as saying all black people are criminals.
I mean, come on. How stupid can you be? Find out where you local
officials stand on the BSL (Breed Specific Legislation). In city's,
check with your city or town council and city elected officials.
In county's check with your County Commissioners office. These are
the people who create BSL. Find out where they stand, and vote those
who support BSL OUT OF OFFICE FOR BEING IGNORANT. Why not ban black
people? I mean really. How stupid.
I also support positive press
of what pit bulls are TRULY. I'm tired of hearing all the bad press
in the media, when they CONVENIENTLY leave out the good stuff about
pit bulls. Why did they have a pit bull for the Little Rascals mascot
anyway? Because the dog was a deadly vicious killer that would eat
the child actors? No, because pit bulls are NORMALLY child friendly.
They are NORMALLY people friendly. They are SUPPOSED to be culled
by RESPONSIBLE breeders if they show signs of human aggression.
They are only SUPPOSED to be dog aggressive naturally.
Also, outside of just having
good breeders, pit bulls need to have good RESPONSIBLE owners. If
you don't have time, you don't need to have a pit bull. A pit bull
chained up in a yard or neglected in a fenced in area is just waiting
for trouble to happen. Please don't get any dog, but especially
a pit bull, if you don't have time!! And if your situation changes
to where you don't have time after owning one, PLEASE be responsible
and contact a local pit rescue or fostering group to help you place
the dog. They are out there, and it's better to give the dog to
someone who does have time.

BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DOG!
PUNISH
THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!
Druidry:
Some people believe in Jesus. Some people
believe in Buddha. Some people believe in angels or ghosts. Me?
I am the type of person who likes to believe in things that I can
see. I see that the world around me is in a constant state of balance.
Good and evil, dark and light, life and death. I see that the world
around me is filled with natural things. I see that the world around
me dies and is reborn. I see that the world constantly recycles
itself. So therefore, I believe humans are the same way. I do believe
in a spirit that is greater than all of us. I call it God, but it
really is no likeness of man. It is an energy from which all creation
derives. And when the energy that is your soul returns to the state
of the perfectly balanced spirit from which it was created, it returns
to that host to merge as one once more. I believe in the pursuit
of knowledge and philosophy. I believe in caring for other living
things, both animal and plant, around us. However, I am not a tree
hugger. I would not save a tree at the expense of a human life.
I am passionate, but that passion is balanced with logic, wisdom,
and education. I seek to abolish ignorance from the people of the
world. I seek to accept that good and bad will always happen, because
balance is the natural order of things. To learn more about modern
druids visit The
