Rules of Play

There are two ways to fight in the Circle of Champions. The first one listed is a one on one match, while the last one is for three or more combatants in a mass spar.

[ OOC Rules:

Standard One on One Combat
Standard one on one combat is fought using 2d30 with both combatants starting with 20 health points. Attacks taken on you by your opponent take away from your health points. The first combatant to 0 health points or below is out (loser), while the person remaining is the victor. There may be no even set of strikes per round - as the match ends as soon as someone is at 0 hps or below.

Results:
Victor Gains: 5 CPs
Loser Gains: 1 CP

Mass Spar Combat
When there are three or more combatants, a mass spar must take place. Each combatant uses 2d30 and goes until they reach 20 hit points or more, where that person becomes unable to fight and out of the match. Initiative is rolled with 1d100 to see who starts. Attacks add hit points to the target. The fight must continue until only one person remains standing. No one person may be attacked more than twice in a row by different players. The target must be clearly named in the attack or by a (()) bauble at the end of the attack.

Results:
Victor Gains: 3 CPs X # of Combatants
Losers Gain: 2 CP

Logs
Logs of matches must be copied and pasted to emails (no attachments please) and sent to kerrinne@gmail.com to receive proper credit. Please use the subject line of CoC Match or Circle of Champions Match for ease in finding when searching mailboxes. Self proctoring is totally acceptable if all participants agree. It's not the schematics I'm after so much as the interaction and IC actions. Please do not deliver any major or death blows to your opponents. These are not death matches--it's a friendly IC competitive event and should be treated thusly. I don't care if people use magic or weapons or hands to fight, as each character has their own styles suitable to their personality. But there must be physical fighting or physical action or magical fighting involved in the matches in some capacity. ie - If a match is an argument only, it will not count. :)

FAQs

  1. There is no sign up required. All QCC members can challenge and be challenged to fight; however, be respectful of people who decline. Not all characters are the fighting kind. I do encourage the use of a participant list, so if you know you would like to be involved in the CoC, please email me your SN to add to the list so people can find others to challenge more readily.
  2. There is no out time. Regardless of wins or losses, you may fight as often or as little as you wish. If you're having fun I don't want to be the one to stop you. This game is about fun, and if you feel like fighting for 12 hours and have that much time to dedicate to play--go for it!
  3. Champion Points (CPs) are awarded for wins and for losses. The person with the most CPs at the end of the month is the victor. So even losers can accumulate.
  4. Logs should be sent in their entirety to kerrinne@gmail.com.
  5. QCs are not paid out per match. Instead, the overall winner each month wins 100 QCs from the Ivory Treasury and the winners of the 12 months fight together and the winner of that takes home 5,000 QCs from the Ivory Treasury. Madje Askavinge Ta'anari has donated a second place prize each month of 75 QCs.
  6. You can purchase extra items with the CPs you earn to help you win battles! To learn the rules of the items, please visit the shop. To verify someone has an item, please visit the shop records before your match begins to verify if your opponent has an item. Spending your CPs on items does not take away from your totals in champion contention.

Proctor Guidance:

  • Please do all proctor efforts OOC except for the betting part below.
  • Start log and announce the start of the log.
  • State the time, time zone, and date of the start of the log. No email or form submittal bets accepted after this time.
  • Indicate the SNs of all participants (and emails if non-AOL email addresses) as well as houses or independent for each participant.
  • Ask if there are any special weapons or items participants are using for the match (if so please verify on Shop records Page).
  • IC you may ask if anyone would like to place a bet before the match begins. If yes, it can be recorded in the room.
  • Have them roll inits (1d100 for mass spar, 1d6 for one on one). Once inits are rolled, no bets may be made in room.
  • Announce points after every turn, not every round. Rounds are pretty pointless other than for keeping track of whose turn it is in a mass spar.
  • When someone is out, declare such in a very easy to understand way.
  • Announce the end of the match and the log closing.
  • Email the log to kerrinne@gmail.com and the participants as well if they request/desire.
  • Rather than pausing a match to wait for an answer, all discrepancies involving confusion of the rules are settled either by a third party proctor or a person not directly involved in the combat (perhaps a house leader or second in command or a QCC officer online) if Kerrinne is not available.
