These weapons do not add to your 2d30--instead they add damage to your hit. The bonus damages are only incurred for a SUCCESSFUL hit. If you have a dice result from your 2d30 of 9 and 13, you get no hit on your opponent. If you
roll 15 & 8, then you have 1 + your damage bonus on your opponent. So if you had a Spear, you'd have 2 points of damage on your opponent.
There is also a limit to the number of matches you can fight with these bonus items without having them repaired. Note: You don't to have stop fighting with the item unless you have no CPs left to deduct for the repair. Otherwise, the repair will happen automatically.
