The
House of Ivory

The
breathtaking House of Ivory was originally
part of the original Castle Blythe owned
by the late Karal Bairde MacMillan. It
was brought over stone by stone from Scotland
to the outskirts of the city of RhyDin
in its first days. There it was reconstructed
to be exactly as it was in Scotland. After
Karal's passing, Kerrinne MacMillan (then
Kerrinne Sneed) used her magic to bring
the castle to Ivory. Today, the House
remains in that same location just outside
the quiet town of Lartia.

While it doesn't have
the bailey, gates, bridges, and towers that
Castle Blythe once had, it still has a few
traces of its castle heritage. The East
Tower of Castle Blythe is connected to the
House through an underground passage way.
It has not been restored other than for
upkeep against deterioration. Karal Bairde
MacMillan was killed in the stairwell of
the East Tower, and there is a commemorative
plaque imbedded in the wall at the place
where he passed away. The East Tower acts
as storage for the many weapons, shields,
and historical family trinkets. |
There
are also traces of a dried up moat around
the premises, but this was not from Castle
Blythe. Kerrinne placed the House of Ivory
in the exact spot where a castle once
stood centuries ago. The moat belonged
to that old castle that nothing remains
of other than a few hunks of shaped stone
that can be found here and there on the
grounds.

On the western side of
the House lies the famous Willow Grove where
the late Karal Bairde MacMillan's forge
can still be found on the edge untouched
by age as if under some magical spell. The
river, Whisper, that runs along the North
Side of the House comes around to meet the
other edge of the grove. It is long known
to be one of Kerrinne's favorite places. |
Another
of the most famous places around the House
of Ivory is the Yellow and White. The Yellow
and White is the title of Kerrinne's yellow
and white rose garden that occupies the
space between the west wing of the castle
and the willow grove. It is said that her
magic keeps the roses growing year 'round,
and that she even has a special breed that
can live for up to 28 days without water
after being cut from the rose bush! |
