Kerrih was devastated by the loss of her grandparents and the disappearance of Flandan, but she was determined not to let the rest of the world see it. With the help of those friends she had made at RhyDin Town Hall, she pulled herself back together and continued on with her life. Though she was busy hobnobbing with her political aristocrats in one inn and elbowing with lowlife assassins and thieves in the UR, Kerrih managed to find time to engage in a personal life still. Again she went from man to man, seeking comfort and always running from that painful thing called love. She remained living in the House of Clouds apartment, but called it House of Devastation jokingly at this point. Castle Blythe, with all its servants released, would become deserted because Kerrih had a hard time dwelling there.
Things seemed peaceful for quite some time for her, until the day she lost her voice (1991). The night was a rough one for Kerrih after she returned home from an inn where she had boasted about dating two men in the same night the night prior to the patrons of the tavern. Her sleep was plagued with nightmares of darker things like demons and wraiths and skeletons. In the background of these images burned an uncontrollable fire. Sweat soaked her body and her sheets as she tossed and turned through the night. Screams of banshees whirled around in her head, or were they outside of her window? In her sleep she tried to scream, but nothing came out. Reality and nightmare blended together in a frightening manner, and when she awoke the nightmare had become reality. Her voice was gone, not from an illness. In fact, not from anything she and a handful of physicians could determine.
She learned how to speak sign language from one of the RhyDin Town Council members who had a deaf daughter. While she could not speak, Kerrih could still hear quite well. It was also during this time that she met an English Lord named Michael Sneed while traveling around the continent exploring all the kingdoms that had been settling into RhyDin. The English government had granted Michael land holdings on the northeastern most part of the continent of RhyDin. It had no official name at the time but was commonly referred to as Sneed Estates. She was completely captivated by him, and he already knew the sign language with which she now spoke.
They married only two days after meeting! One major thing they both had in common was that they loved to travel. Together they made many trips to Africa where he would go on hunting expeditions, and she would sit with the tribes and learn some of the social cultures and 'spirit' magic usually from the village witch doctors. After a few trips around the world and several months of hunting, Michael had so much Ivory that he told Kerri to think of something to do with it. She turned her gaze toward the decaying castle of her late Grandfather's, Castle Blythe, and an idea struck her. She would move the abandoned castle, rebuild it, rename it, and make it her own.
So piece by piece Castle Blythe was disassembled with the architect making careful notes of the structure so that it could be exactly replicated on Sneed Estates lands. There were some minor changes made to suit Kerrih's tastes, including the fact that the castle was rebuilt in all white brick on the outside using the ivory to trim the interior. The East Tower of Castle Blythe was rebuilt exactly the same as it was for it holds so many dear memories to Kerrih.
Shortly after the castle was rebuilt into the House of Ivory and Sneed Estates became known as the land of Ivory (1992), Michael would leave Kerri in a drunken stupor for a gypsy woman. Upon his departure he bequeathed to her all his material possessions including his English title, his money, and the castle. Kerrih holed herself up in the castle for a few weeks in her misery. Then decided she was going to go back to bury herself in her work...a tradition that would continue throughout her life.
